Hello CJUG member,
we are looking for jee web developer to join our software development
team.
Description of the project
We are developing a grant management system for a government department.
System is a web application based on the following:
JSF and its flavours – for presentation tier
EJB 3 – for persistence (Hibernate under JPA)
JBoss 4.2 -app server
OpenLdap - security data store
Java 6 / JEE 5 - platform
Open Suse 10 -development and deployment OS
Postgress 8.1 database
What we are after
Technical requirements
-strong experience in developing web apps (while it would be nice if you
are familiar with JSF, if you had been exposed Struts, JSP, Velocity or
even Swing etc, you should be able to pick up JSF reasonably quickly).
-You should be comfortable with XHTML, JavaScript, CSS etc
-You not be afraid to experiment with AJAX
-We are also considering using Xforms for our web forms, so if you know
XML, Xpath, Xquery, XML schema that is an extra bonus
-You should be very comfortable with JEE stuff (i.e you would have been
exposed to application servers, deployment, configuration, JNDI, and
other baggage that comes with JEE)
-You should be very comfortable with Java overall, and preferably up to
speed with 1.5
-our development and deployment environment is Linux, therefore you should
be comfortable with using it and as well as comfortable with basic Linux
administration
-dependency injection, resource management, declarative transaction
management etc do not sound just like buzzwords (i.e you roughly know what
they mean)
-you are someone who likes to keep up with technology, especially in JEE
space (i.e you would have heard of or used Spring, Struts, Seam, Hibernate
or similar frameworks)
-you like open source stuff
-you would be comfortable with writing lots of automated unit, integration
and functional tests
-we try to be a very agile team. (i.e very light weight with requirements
documentation), most of our doco is captured in user stories, UML class
and state chart diagrams. Therefore you will be comfortable with agile
approach.
Non Technical Requirements
-our team is only 3 people. Therefore it is essential to be a team
player.
-you will need to be very comfortable with taking part in any of
the software development phases. (at times you may be required to do
business analysis, most of the time you’ll be
designing/coding, and you may be required to write test cases or
conduct/assist testing)
-can do attitude
- Australian citizenship will make it easier to get you onboard.
-taking initiative
What we are not after
We are not after a project manager, architect (in any of its
flavours enterprise/system etc), software development manger, tech lead
etc etc.
To summarise we are after a good software engineer/developer who knows and
wishes to develop reasonably cutting edge jee web app who will primarily
spent most of his time end effort on the presentation tier. This can be
anyone with 2 years or 20 years experience.
This is a contract position for 6 months with another 6-12 months
extension.
If you have any questions please send me an email.
If you think this could be you, please send me your CV and we’ll take it
from there.
