Hi all,

Fire Control Systems is hiring software engineers.
We are a defence supplier. Our stuff is military.

JAVA
      * PERMANENT ROLE 
      * Multiple positions

WE are  looking for  developer(s). We are looking for a Java software
engineer with some knowledge of physics or mathematics or electronics,
because we have to deal with custom hardware. You are NOT expected to
design the non-software bits. Just program in Java. Some knowledge of C
would be useful, but not essential.
On the up-side, we do get to say to the hardware designers "okay, but
add another accelerated graphics routine to the hardware." They, of
course have the opportunity at that point to laugh.

We use  REAL TIME JAVA for our mission critical software.  It's not
rocket science and we do teach the real-time bits.
We also use Swing to make desktop Java tools for testing in the factory.

You need broad skills and the ability to work with a small team  of
committed software engineers.  Software engineering at FCS is part of a
larger engineering group of about 15.
We do CMMI processes + some Agile. (and ISO12207 and ISO9001)
We use CVS, Bugzilla, Borland's Together for Eclipse, and Real time
Java.
Preferably you've been programming for more than 3 years.

Overseas travel a definite prospect. 

Salary NEGOTIABLE for the right person(s)

A security clearance is NOT required, but if you could obtain one, or
have one, that would be a bonus.

We don't have a list of selection criterion. We don't do APS style
reviews. Our performance reviews are annual, and conducted by your
engineering managers. (Admittedly with HR watching to make sure we don't
just tick all the boxes.)
